Transmission quit in forward gears
'81 300sd. Everything worked fine yesterday. Left the house this morning and got to the stop sign about a mile from home. Had to back all the way home.
Fluid level & color is ok. Looked in several search pages, to no avail. Any pointers on what to check will be greatly appreciated.... Many thanks, Jim

Almost certainly a B2 piston failure.
There's plenty in the archives about it. Or, I can send you a procedure if you wish. |

Thanks, Brian. I'm just now getting back to it. I will check archives and holler back if I can't make sense out ot it.

Might also check the bushings on the shift linkages. It's easy to check and cheap to replace. So it can't hurt to check on them.
