I'm in another oil battle with him over at BW. I'm offering to pay for his analysis and he is refusing.

In his mind, he has all the answers and nothing that anybody else says means anything. That includes the factory engineers.

He claimed to have sold the car. I wonder if he informed the buyers of his oil change habits. But he also claims to be a multimillionaire. Of course, that may be true. Perhaps he made a mint on a pyramid scheme.

At one point he also claimed to be a woman, as I recall.

I bet he believes he does not need to feed the hounds. They probably find their own food.

I sort of miss him. He's the only one on my ignore list, and I enjoyed playing "name that troll" by trying to guess what kind of nonsense he was posting based on how the sane people responded to him. Much more entertaining than reading his actual posts.

You, my friend have nailed it on the head.

Oy! I should be so good with words. Pretty pictures (especially with pretty ladies) are another story...

Anyways... back to ripping Joe-the-oiless-dude.

The main problem I see with the forum lately is the abrasive way that newer members on here are being told in the first reply to their first post to do a search. Not nicely, but more like "why in the %$#$ didn't you search first instead of bothering us?"

Remember back when you first joined a forum, any forum? Remember doing your first search? Probably not, and they won't either. Everyone had to learn somewhere, and they do too.

Not only that, but using the search function is much more difficult on this site, and simply because it is one of the best sites out there. If you're new to Mercedes, and you have a transmission problem, search "transmission problem" and you'll get (hang on a min.....) 500 answers.
If you're not new to Mercedes, and you search for "82 300sd transmission bowden cable adjust" because you have a clue of what you are looking for, you'll get it narrowed to 8 results.

When the site was new, and there weren't as many duplicate search answers, it was easy to find your way around. Now it requires more.....finesse, shall we say? Please realize that my last search in quotes will now also come up in any search for bowden cable, transmission, 82, 300sd, adjust....or any combination. Posting a list of work on what you do to your car in the forums brings up the thread where you stated the work performed, but perhaps no info on the problem related to the procedure. Sorting through 500 posts when you don;t know what to specifically look for is just asking the newer members to go somewhere else for help.

So instead of next time stating "do a search", or "you could have just used the search function", perhaps try to steer the newer or less experienced members in a direction forward, instead of a reply that is a useless as stating to someone looking for something "it's over there" and not pointing or suggestion any type of location whatsoever.

Check out the trees....they actually make a forest if you stand back and look at them all together.

Soapbox now free for the taking.

Oh, as for Joe....I find it hard to feel sorry for him when he was asking for it.

Same here . Only one on the ignore list, but I always had to click on the "view message" button just to see what was going on in the oil thread. It is kind of like a train wreck- part of you wants to look away but the rest of you wants to see the wreckage.

And there was a lot of wreckage.

As someone else asked, what's with the language on BW? Moderators not censor that stuff???!!!
