93 300D; Good Idle...Nothing Else
Just like the title says, my 300D will idle and nothing else. The gas pedal just stopped working while I was driving. I immediately pulled over and checked the throttle linkage. Obvious answer right?
One ball-joint had come unhooked but it just snapped back on. I was shocked when this fixed nothing. The gas pedal moves the throttle linkage freely but RPMs never raise. Same situation when manipulated from under the hood. There is some sort of linkage (almost like a throttle body) on the turbo outlet that does not move except when manipulated by hand. The first thing I did was change the fuel filter (big one) and air filter, however the sudden onset of this problem leads me to believe it is mechanical in nature. Could this problem be electronic (its a '93)? When I search these forums, I find countless threads about starting problems (many injection related) and diesels that won't turn off (already had one) but my problem is neither. Sorry if I come off as a noob, but I will appreciate any help. |

Sounds like you still have some linkage that has come apart.
Start from the pedal and follow the movement to where nothing moves any more.
