CAMSHAFT CODE 11 and my timing: what's the deal?
hey all-
biodiesel300td came over yesterday, and we did some investigations in my smoking wagon. while measuring timing chain stretch, we noticed my '85 wagon has code "11" on the camshaft, and i can't find specs on that code anywhere that'll tell me degree rating for it. i know specs for the 617.952 with code '05' is 11º for a used chain (which would mean i have 4º stretch), but can anyone confirm that's the case with a camshaft code 11? incidentally, the chain looked pretty darned good- better than any of us would have imagined for a chain that supposedly has 400,000 miles on it. measuring stretch with a dial indicator (twice) gave us successive readings at the balancer of 15º, which, per the "05" camshaft code would mean i have 4º stretch. we tried to verify the results by doing a reading off the cam timing alignment marks, but got a resulting 7º at the balancer...
