A possible way to fix a Kilma for a 300 SDL

I was doing an experiment, and had a 'blown' Klima for a 300 SDL laying around. (this might be relevant to other models as well) I found out that they can be repaired. I shoudl have taked photos while I was taking it apart, but didn't think of it at the time I was doing it. I will try to explain. Let me know if this is of any help.

First, and most obviously, remove the klima from the car. It's located under the hood, behind the firewall, to the left of the fusebox on the driver's side of the car. (Just in case you didn't know)

Second, Open the klima. Sounds simple enough. Scrape the sealing paste/glue away from the area outside the electrical connects. Then gently pry open the sides fo the top case away from the bottom. You'll have to hold one side open while prying the other side. I used the needles for holding the stuffing inside the turkey for this job. When you pry the opposite side, the bottom should just pop up on its own.

Third, look on the back of the circuit board. There were no moving parts to worry about. There was a wide copper circuit that was blown on the board. It was near the bottom in about the center. It's about a 1/4" wide. On mine, there was a blow out there, and the circuitry had lifted from the board. Solder the two parts together WITHOUT getting any solder onto any of the nearby connectors. It just takes a small drop of solder to do the trick. You might need a second set of hands to hold down the circuit with the previously used stuffing needles. Smooth it out a little bit.

Fourth, reassemble, and put back in your car. Test. If it works, reseal it with roofer's slilcone carefully. Smooth the paste out with a wet rubber glove finger.

Lastly, enjoy cold air once more.

Well, if anyone does have a 'blown' KLIMA, and doesn't want it, I'd like it. I have two that ended up in a relay meltdown because the previous owner's mechanic replaced the correct fuse with a 30 amp. (the A/C compressor clutch was gone, and drawing too much power.) Both KLIMA obviously need these small relays replaced, and I'd like to find them somewhere. The rest of the board looks OK but without replacing the relay I won't know.
