Replacing Coolant Level Sensor 1990 300D

I ordered the coolant level sensor and had a quick look at how to replace it.

The question I have is about the method to replace it, as it seems awful tight in there against the shield. Do I remove the tank or the shield? Or how do I get to it?

Thanks for any assistance.

Nigel

It's dooable as is.

Remove the coolant from the tank (I have a small hand pump, parts store have small one for tranny fluid). There is a large C-clip that holds it in place. I just grabbed it with some large needle nose and pulled it off. The old one just pulls out.... after you unplug it . Hopefully they gave you a new O-ring to go on the new float switch it all in reverse from there.
