Trunk Triangle Bracket?

Hey all,

Real quick question for all you "triangle club" nuts: what is the part number for the mounting bracket that goes on the underside of the trunk? You know, the swivel-thing that keeps the triangle secured to it?

My 300D Euro, which has since been sold to a close friend, has a triangle. He doesn't want the triangle.. so I'm gonna buy it off of him, but I can't figure out how to get the bracket off the thing, so I figured the path of least resistance would be to simply buy a new bracket (although the new one probably doesn't have the cool "AUF ->" german on it!).

So, I suppose the question is: is there an easy way to get the old bracket off (it feels glued?), or what is the part number of a new one. Also, if anybody knows the part # of a blue medkit lid, it would be appreciated greatly. Thanks!

I don't know; but I know who would; Zack K. ("Boardmonger") would.

He knows all about the trunk triangles for the W123 and the swivel mounting brackets for them.

A while back he'd actually gotten ahold of a large supply of the brackets, perhaps while scouring junkyards for other W123 parts.

PM him, I have met him, and he's a real good guy, and likes to help people out around here. You could mention to him I sent you, if you want

I just got a couple from the salvage yard last week. One off a W116, and one off a W123.
The part # from the back of the part:
#1238900014

They are definitely different from the 2 chassis......

How did you get the clip off of the junker? Were they glued on, or is it a clip-on mechanism? I'd rather get it off the Euro, if possible, rather than buy a new clip.

It just pries forward or back. I can't remember which direction, but you can tell by looking. On the end with a middle protrusion between the legs/tabs is a small holding tab that just fits in a detent. just stick something flat under it and push clip towards the end with the middle protrusion.
Sorry about no pic, but it's easy....

one on ebay right now, search w123 in car parts - the clip is a snap-fit so examine it closely for how to install/remove

U.S spec cars (to the best of my knowledge)did not come with these triangles, so any one that you get will be a German Spec. They are not hard, I just pop them off with a screwdriver.
