83 300SD - HowTo Remove Rear Ceiling Cover?

I already posted this in detailing, but am spoiled by the near instant response rate here from our fellow diesel'ers... so I figured I would try here too...

Hi there,

I am an MB newbie, having just come in possession about a month ago of a 1983 300 SD.

There is a blue (color of my interior) cover between the headliner and the windshield above the back seats, that goes across the entire back of the ceiling. This is the cover that has the rear overhead cabin light in it. Mine is warped causing it to look melted in the middle and exposing the headliner material edge, etc. I would like to remove it so I can see if I can fit a rib of some kind to fix the warping or some other hairbrained idea.

How do I remove this piece without ruining the headliner or anything else in the vehicle? If you can point me to pictures, that would be even better!

Thank you,

Robert
