Recently, I had my starter replaced on my '84 300D. The bottom bolt was broken and the top bolt was gone, but that's an altogether separate thread...
Since picking the car up from the shop, there is a noticable increase in cabin noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. I know that the noise is engine RPM-related, and not drivetrain-related, because of some simple highway tests I've done. I noticed also that the MB mechanic added some sort of heat shield between the starter and the exhaust manifold, which was not present before I took it in. My flex pipe looks okay, and there is no obvious loosened bolt or nut. Why is my car so loud inside? It makes long trips almost unbearable...
Any ideas? Yeah, I know...I should ask the tech who installed it...
