How long should it take between time the key is turned off and time engine stops? Immediate? In my car, there is a lag of about 1 sec. May be my imagination but it seems longer since I had valves adjusted and "hollow" bolt cleaned last week. I've looked for loose fittings and don't see any.
My center dash vents are acting up a bit too...don't always blow air when they should. Could that be related? Other vacuum components (locks, trans shift) appear to be working fine. Thanks, Nic '85 300CD |

Thanks for info Donkey, it sounds right.
Those lines disappear into the firewall. Can I see them if I remove the plastic cover under the dash on inside of car? I assume there is a junction up there somewhere. Nic |

ok Donkey, I'm convinced about the tester. Have read about it many times. I am pretty good with tools but lack experience....will let OJT overcome that. I do have a Haynes manual.
I'll look carefully at all connections and, while there, identify any that appear cracked or worn so that I can replace them. I'm also going to replace the vacuum pump itself within the next six months. Thanks for pointers. Nic |
