How RARE is euro headlight wipers on w123/300D's?

Hello everyone,

I noticed on some w123's, they have euro headlights and wipers. How rare is this?

Also, I might have tracked down some headlight wipers and arms for a w123 and would like to install it on my wagon. Has anybody done this? How much do they go for usually? (purchasing used)

Can the wiper arms and motors be ordered from U.S. Mercedes dealers? If so, I am just wondering why so few cars out there have them!

I think it would be pretty cool to have a "fully loaded" headlights package. Vacuum height adjustment switch, wipers, superwhite PIAA's, etc. etc.

Few have them because it's a pretty pointless accessory. How many times have you been driving and thought "headlight wipers would really come in handy right now"?

I could see them being useful in very muddy areas but not much else except for the "coolness" factor of simply having them.

I got some about a year ago from a swedish junk yard, cost was about 10 bucks. I made some new wiper blades from some longer one cut to length.

I do use them every now and then up in the north east. We get tons of salt here for melting the snow, (they don;t actually teach you have to drive on snow here) and it get all over the headlights and is nice to get it off with out getting out of the car with a wet cloth.

I'll see if I can dig up the post I had on installing them.

That would be great if you can find that thread.

I used to have headlight wipers on my w124 when I changed over to euros. On my w124, I had windshield nozzles that squirted the fluid out onto the headlight. Does yours and other w123s have this too? If so, I would imagine you had to drill a hole into your fender under the headlight assembly.

The holes to mount the motor assembly are in place. All you should need to drill is the hole for the wiper arm to pass through.

Plus the squirters- I have holes in my bumper for them but mine are long gone if it ever had them.

Or you could obtain the sheet metal with the holes prepunched.

IIRC squirters are part of the wiper arm.

In any event no USA 5mph bumper ever had squirter holes in it.

Rare? ZERO/ZIP/NADA USA W123 was ever equipped with them.

In some Euro countries they're legally required, so not rare at all.

Purchasing used, then, is highly unlikely unless you have European sources.

Yes, a USA Mercedes dealer can order Euro parts. Better might be Speed Autoteile.

so.. who wants to get me a set... I need a complete euro conversion of my car... ^_^

When I was younger.. like 7 or 8 I would see what I now know as the W126. I would make comments about the wipers on the lights and how cool they were.

Here are a few picts from my install along with the wiring for the city lights. I'll try and make a write up for it later.

What is speed autoteile?

Does anybody have the part numbers or know how much this "headlight wiper system" is going to cost me?

I wonder if the wiper motors themselves are interchangable with w124, w126, w201's, etc.
