87 300D plastic throttle bracket broken...Help

Im guessing this part could be bought from MB but just didnt know if anyone else has had this problem.
Pushed pedal all the way to the floor and plastic bracket that holds throttle linkage broke and now cant drive car until its replaced. Everything else on these cars is built like a tank, wonder why this piece was plastic. Does anyone know if there is a alternate factory piece that is better. Im thinking of milling out a piece of aluminum or steel to replace it with but dont have the machinery at the house and it would take too much time to make something nice.
Part is bolted to bottom of intake and I guess the first bracket in the maze of all the throttle brackets and linkage.
I looked on several parts sites w/o seeing mention of it and would suppose it is probably used only on the 6 cyl diesel motors but not sure.
Any help/ home remedies would be appreciated. I tried JB weld but no luck. Probably could mold a huge glob of JB and mill it out. I guess this part gets a little crispy with age or my linkage is wearing and this was the 1st pc to go...

There was a factory recall on the original throttle bushings.

The part itself is cheap, but a dealer might cover it under goodwill if you show them this document.

Thanks for the heads up. That plastic threaded adjustment nut on the cable is bad too but the one that broke is, I guess the 2nd weak link, thats bolted with 2 10mm(wrench) bolts to the underside of the intake. The linkage pivots on this piece and is held on by a c-clip.
I wish I hadnt JB`b the thing now , maybe MB would provide both parts. This car must have missed the safety sweeps.

there was a post on 9-18 that is the same problem you seem to have.

hope this helps.

for some reason this doesn`t come up when I click on it,

yeah link didnt work for me...
I read the one about the rod ends and that isnt the part either.
My 87 looks to have all metal pivot ends so no plastic on this one that I can see.
And upon looking around now I see that Ive got a fuel leak on top of the inj pump around one of injectors lines where it comes out of pump. Starts pooling up slowly when motor is cranked. Guess its time to do another search...

UPDATE, Fixed this plastic part by making a new one out of aluminum plate welded to a piece of square tubing. It will be there for the life of the car.

I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND MB CAN NOT LOCATE THE PART--DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE PART NUMBER IS FOR THE BRACKET?

This is NOT the plastic keeper on the end of the throttle cable

THIS IS THE BAKALIGHT/PLASTIC BLACK BRACKET, ATTACHED WITH 2-10MM BOLTS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE INTAKE--SHAFT FROM PIVIT PIN FROM 3 POINTED STAR/BELLCRANK IS HELD THROUGH IT WITH A CIR-CLIP.

Whatever you do replace it correctly and make sure it works before driving. I had the stupid plastic throttle linkage ball end break, pop the linkage off the cruise actuator and wedge itself nicely into intake mani and jam throttle wide open at 75 mph. Benz dealer wouldnt repl my front brake pads but did offer me the 123 throttle linkages at wholesale which have metal ball ends. Not your problem but from experience, make dam sure the throttle linkage doesnt bind or stick and all those silly plastic ball ends are repl with metal from earlier years. Im with you on the question about the car being built like a brick ***** house and then using plastic on throttle stuff. Kick a bean counter in the nuts if you see 1.

Well, I need to replace the linkages on my 603's I guess, I wouldn't want to burn out my new Porterfield pads
I remember the first time I saw a 603 engine, it was about 1990 and the vac pump had let go and toasted an engine. I commented how cheap, to design a 6 cyl diesel that was a kick-a$$ performer and use plastic stuff like those linkages. I never figured I would someday own 2 of them
My Bowden end of the accelerator cable is also cracked, it still works and hasn't caused any problem but I suppose it should be replaced sometime also, there is just too much riding on the plastic parts associated with the accelerator to ignore
I actually thought it was the management that began striving for ways to increase their bonuses that was responsible for reduction in parts cost. Benz was early in outsourcing, now a SOP for US companies.

To wit, I opened the box of a new Behr AC dryer last fall and it was labelled "Made in China". There is no end to it.

Some dealerships have a partscounter person who has real problem using the EPS, the old fiche were even worse! But honestly the depictions are sometimes appear to be a very poor image of the actual part you are looking for and its a nightmare finding some things like rear window molding trim, the EPC doesn't even bother listing those pieces because some were grey plastic then some were anodized aluminum. So they put "call xxxx (MBNA rep) with VIN# or something to that effect. I just went through that issue, there's no p/n on the Catalog! Even Stuttgart left a few things undone

That plastic bracket should be available though, and I'll wag a bet its a diesel-only part. You need to go there and look at the screen while the counter person tries various "pages" on the computer hoping you will spot it.

If that fails then a good wrecking yard might be in order (yes, I've visited a yard where there were two 603's on the shelves for cores!) OR (better yet) list a need for it under the Parts section here on the 'Forum and see if someone doesn't have one.
Hopefully you can do without that vehicle until then. From the size of the herd you have in the stable I think that a good possibility!

I had this issue as well, replaced the plastic ended rod with a metal ended rod for a 617 in a 123. As per usual, the 603/603 engine manual provide the essential info to alter the metal ended rod's length to be exact to the millimeter as the inferior plastic 603 part that failed during removal.

I bought a EPC sub for the next year, looked it up in less than two minutes, I call my friend back at the MB dealership to discovered he had a software issue that corrupted that page and left it blank.
