W00t! Got a 190D parts car... now the Qs
I just got (well, I pick it up on the 13th) a 1987 190D 2.5 5-speed parts car for the 5-speed conversion on my Turbo. Now, what to do with the rest of the car? Spares! So a few questions for y'all:
1. What parts are interchangeable between the 2.5NA and the 2.5T? 2. Can the head / prechambers be swapped with no issues? 3. Are the injectors the same size (nozzles, etc.)? 4. What about the IP, is it the same or 'geared' for less power? I know the bottom end is the weak point on the NAs when it comes to turbos, so that's why I'm concentrating my questions to the top end. Also, what vacuum lines / pods can I delete after going to a 5-speed? I've already disconnected the EGR hose, but have left that pod there (plugged) with the other vac line running off of it. Is it needed? As you can tell, the thread about deleting vacuum lines on a 617 has gotten me thinking. Oh, and I will be selling my auto tranny (722.4 with about 5000 miles on it ) when the conversion is done in about 2 months. Something for you guys to keep in mind if you will be looking for one in the near future.
