I think this is great what this guy did. Did he do it to make money on e-bag. who knows? He has a shop and a lot of parts laying around and maybe thought maybe this might work, besides he said he is a MB mechanic with years of experience.
There are people with dreams that get shot down by the negative remarks of less motivated people. they stick out their necks to get criticized.

Good thing the Wright bros, didn`t listen when they hacked up a bunch of parts and flew at Kitty Hawk.

I thought about this kind of a project for a while, one of these days.
the 617 engine is a good engine, simple w/o all the complicated dodads of the new junk being forced on us. they get good mpg over the gas hogs. and nothing like the smell of a smoke belching Diesel, and the PURRR as I go cruising down the highway:D.

If this SECD wasn`t on the other side of the world, HMMM:rolleyes:.

Wouldn't it be a 300SDC?

300SDC TURBODIESEL would be correct for badging purposes.

Very true, IF it was a euro model, BUT: there were NO Euro 300SD models. Not one.

They never sold the W126 300SD in Europe.

ForcedInduction 10-09-2007 10:54 PM

BUT the 500SEC was available in Europe. ;)

If I had the cash I'd snap this thing up...personally, I don't think it's as bad as some have said, considering the POS I'm currently driving.

I would love to have a Coupe 126 with the 617....man...that combines both of my favorites...

I hate the colors on this one, but I'd live with it.

Looks like a cool project. But i dont understand whats with all the comments about the "trashed body" Unless im missing something the body looks straight and the interior is clean although the seats need help.

And since the engine has unknown history it is clean, ive seen many 617's that arent even close to as clean as the one pictured.

The car is cool, the idea is cool. I just can't see how a car could be both a "Sedan", and a "Coupe" at the same time. He should change it's classification to something different. I mean, SDC..? I don't know that I'd buy a car from someone who can't even tell the difference between a "Coupe" and a "Sedan". It's a "Coupe", and no matter where the engine and trans came from, it will always be a "Coupe", and that can never change. WTF..?

The term "Sedan" by definition means, four door car.

The term "Coupe" by definition means, Two door car...

Some Mechanic he must be..? Did he change the thingamajiggy, attached to the watchamacallit too..?

Never mind, I'm opening a new can of worms with this one anyways....Probably raise some kind of arguement, which is not my intention at all. I'm simply pointing out the density of the seller, and the fact that if the guy couldn't even get the body type correct, than what else is screwed up? Hidden "Rats nests, of wiring under the dash etc...?

BUYER BEWARE!!!

The S is for S class, not sedan. Hence SEC = S class, E = fuel inj C = coupe
So SDC = S class Diesel Coupe

In my opinion he made something the factory should have made.

Yes, but there are probably a whole hell of a lot of reasons the factory didn't make them like that..
