Money burning out of one's pocket will aways be a sore point to some.

I do think we should have a Sticky on Diesel Prices in one's area to prevent all these different diesel price threads.

BTW - prices here have been between $3.55 and $3.79. I hate to say this but FI's $3.27 would be considered cheap in these parts.

What everyone had better hope is that the Oil exporters don't switch to the Euro as the oil trading currency. Then we're all in trouble. Can you say....$6+ a gallon? Currently $1.44US to the €...not good.

I agree, the weak dollar is a much bigger long term problem than fuel prices.

It has gone up even more than diesel, most people are seeing around $4 a gallon when you calculate the cost of it. Not to mention it will hurt your engine, and when running it you'll get 4 less mpg.

Saturday I fueled at Flying J in Lodi, Ca, $3.56 and $3.61 with plastic.
In Sacramento I 5 and Richards blvd Chevron $3.39
In Milpitas Valero $3.89

We just got to run faster on the tred mill to keep up with the increases.

As well as hurting the roads and law abiding taxpayers.

If the veggie price is up there.. little I can do about it...might switch to it anyway, however, when Dr. Rudolph Diesel first invented the diesel engine in the 1890's, diesel fuel, as we know it today, did not yet exist. Dr. Diesel fueled his early prototype engines with peanut oil.

I'll follow in the footsteps one of the first Diesel people.

Unfortunately the Diesel engine as you describe it no longer exists. ALL modern (1960+) diesel engines were made to run on petroleum Diesel.

OK MR attitude. Good grief.

It is painfully obvious you are not familiar with how the prices are set and what is driving the price.

Perhaps a little Econ 101 would be due.

Makes me appreciate my $0.70 / gal bio fuel that I make. Though I hear the price of methanol is going to rise soon.

I noticed diesel near my house in N. VA this morning was up to $3.50 a gallon. Holy moly!

This led me to ask the question of whether their are different grades of diesel fuel that can be burned in a 24 year old MB? I'm new to diesel cars, so I have not got any experience with this yet. I'm still on my first tankful.
