Damm that's slick. I might have to give that a try. I need to do two axels. I already have enough for four axels. If I use the ones with out the cans. I didn't have audio on, so what type of oil did he use.

He said soap or motor oil. That was a cool demonstration.

Nice
Picture ain't great, but you can see it. Do you think those are the OE boots he is putting on? Then he still has to put the CV lube inside. I guess that could be done. I am going to have to look for some old axles that haven't cracked open and try that. I am using rebuilt axles, but I don't like the thought of the rebuilder grinding them down to make them usable.

I have a 'spare axel ' in the truck of the car. I might have to try it. Getting grease in there should be easy. Clean out the old with brake cleaner or CV cleaner. I an thinking a shiringe or such. I have a bearing packer from NAPA that has a shiringe to pressure grease into a bearing. I plan to use RedLine CV-2 synthetic grease. Just have to get the oil filler spout of the right size. I'll try some dishwashing soap, thinned a bit with water.

Thats slick, so easy even a girl could do it. 99 cents for a funnel, lil soap, elbo grease. Or $300.00 for the tool. decisions, decisions.
Click on the menu bottom of the video, second view from the left shows a guy putting on one while on the vehicle. lil more effort. Charlie

That is awesome. My boots are very cracked, so I am tempted to do that to mine!! Think the MB boots would hold up to that? Or would it be best to use the "Flexx" boots....they can stretch like crazy.

I agree that it's hard to imagine stretching the Mercedes boots like that by hand (even by four hands) and wonder if the youtube guy wasn't using a Flexx boot, which is made of thinner rubber.

ok.... so he turned it inside out, is that because it is the outer boot? Is the inner one done the same way but not inside out or is it different? I looked under my car when I was doing my sway bar links and my inner boot was broken. If its a matter of parts plus oil and a funnel Im all for fixing it...

I came away with the impression that he was using the Flexx boots, as he said he didn't have the tool. I think the joint is normally disassembled when using the OEM boots.

Yes, he's using Flexx boots. He specifically talks about not having the air-powered spreader tool.
Stock boots will bust before they stretch like that. They'd also take a great deal of oomph to make them do so.

So whats the verdict on the flexx boots? Good deal? I've heard they're made of a good synthetic rubber that lasts a long time. I may try to do mine this way.... Unless someone has the flexx gun to loan me....
