I believe it is a tachometer sensor. Reglar Impuls sure sounds more like tachometer to me. It also doesn't have the appropriate lights. He does have the RIV sensor though, I bet you could rig something up with it. I sent an email asking the guy/

You can see most of the part number on the tester. When I went to the Mercedes special tool site to check it out I found that the Ebay photograph matched the line drawing of 617 589 09 21 00 RI Adapter: Dynamic Injection Pump Timing. I started the thread as I thought that someone might be interested.
http://www.startekinfo.de/etools/

Under the title: Special Tool Catalog click on : Tool Lookup
and you will find a place to type in the tool number.
When the tool number comes up click on the number and it will show you a picture of the tool, engines it is used on and other information.
There is aleast 3 other attachments that go with it. The seller is selling 2 parts the above listed part and the cable that attaches to the fuel injection pump. By the way this seller has 100% good feedback.

The tool he is selling is an adapter that connects to the RIV tester. The RIV method checks the timing of the IP while the engine is running, which is why it has a connector to the tach amp. This is the the ***ACTUAL*** RIV method. The RIV method that everyone talks about (the one with the two lights on it) isn't the actual RIV method... this is it. See 07.1-8244.pdf in the OM60x engine manual. This is the first time I have seen an actual tester.

I'm the high bidder on the cable. I bid up to $67 on the adapter and the reserve STILL wasn't met...

Umm... he has a feedback rating of 5. Are you the seller or something?

Um, msustarstake you bid twice but the second time you bid is not going to raise the amount any. What you need to do is register with eBay using two identities then you can bid against yourself and see where the reserve is set.

What is one of these worth? I hope the winner is wiling to rent it out on the Shopforum (hint!

The seller indicated he is in New Lisbon WI. Of course that can be false info, eBay doesn't really CARE where a seller states they are locate, I see "GOOD OLE USA" and similar locations all the time, Should be a rule you let people know exactly where a seller is but not the case unfortunately.

Its been a while since I've bid on an auction with a reserve, but I think once you finally bid over the reserve, the auction will go to the reserve amount. No need for a second username .

Good catch! Didn't even think of checking that... it just seemed like an odd statement to make for someone with a feedback of 5 is all.

I don't get the credit I got the link off some one elses thread last week. Just like several months ago some one posted a Russian link where you type in your VIN number and it tells you pretty much all of the origional equipment on your car, the paint color ect.
Is there some place on the Mercedesshop forum where these links could be put in sort of a library.

ya, you certainly don't want to bid with 2 usernames to determine the reserve, you simply have to bid. with each successive bid, the price will go up until it hits the reserve, then the price will not go up unless someone outbids your highest offer.

Nope, what I meant was if the same bidder bids umpteen times and is already the high bidder the bids all show the same amount. Capiche?

No I am not the seller. I bought a Hazet 32 teeth splined injection pump socket from this seller for $5 plus the shipping (which cost more than the socket) last week. I just noticed that he was selling some items that do not come up for sale often and I thought that some people might be interested.

Seller:5385gerald( 5 ) Feedback:100% PositiveMember:since Nov-29-04 in United States
I see what you are saying now. He has 5 sales with a feed back of 100%. WELL so far so good.
