"Compression In A Bottle" Products?

I was at Autozone the other day and saw a few cans of stuff to the effect of "Compression in a Bottle"

"Uses high-shear polymers to seal piston rings, reducing blow-by and increasing compression. For use in all gasoline and diesel engines."

My engine has some blow-by...the stuff is supposed to get added to engine oil at any time.

What do you guys think about them?

I figured I'd ask here before I did something stupid.

You might do a regular internet search and see if any one else had good results with it.
I general I thank that anything that would thicken the oil (STP comes to mind) would tend to reduce blow by (but probagbly not the blow by comming from the exhaust valve stem area). a.k.a.: viscosity index improver. Probably less effective on diesels than gassers due to the diesels higher operating pressures.

Good stuff to plug up the oil galleries and damage the oil filter.

I have read many times that it works. but for it to work properly you must use oils that dont have friction reducers in them. they will keep the product from doing what it is supposed to do. I quote from another web site "if you use ordinary supermarket type oil and RESTORE you will see improvements in a worn engine in under 500 miles." Hope this can help.

a general rule to live by if you own a mercedes W123/w126/w124/w115 diesel or any other mercedes

Only buy car wash and maybe oil from your mcparts store... other than that buy all essential parts from the dealership or a trusted parts man
