block heater

does my 1983 300 d have one ? if so does ir heat the oil or the coolant ? how safe is it from a fire ? ive heard some bad stories,thank you.

Look on the passenger side of the engine under the turbo, there should be a cord or a fitting/plug for a cord to attach to on the side of the engine. Your car did not come with one from the factory most likely so it may or may not have one. The heater on these cars is a coolant heater.
