Haha maybe he MEANT to say, "35 mpg, on the freeway, going downhill, acceleration not included."
I was pleasantly surprised at my last 79 300SD fillup to find I was getting 24 mpg (and that's in low 20's temps, running on 75% WVO, 20% d2, 5% kero). Previously I had only been getting 19-22 mpg... maybe it was the can of SeaFoam I dumped in the tank...

its pretty easy here in Texas, or it was the last time I did it. Unfortunately the law varies greatly from state to state.

It depends on the state. I am in Massachusetts. I was able to get one w/ the previous owners registration(from NH) and a bill of sale. I think because NH does not require a title on an older vehicle. The current owner should be able to request a copy from DMV for a fee. Each state is different some are worse than others.

in Tennessee
Owner must fill out form stating Title is lost --- I actually did this with me truck; previous owner who's name is ON the title signs the form, too. State then sent me a title.

In NJ I think you are out of luck
From the MVC website: To replace a lost or stolen title when there is no lien on the vehicle Visit your local MVC Agency and complete an application for a duplicate title.
in NY How do I replace a lost title certificate? You can apply for a duplicate title certificate at the DMV web site, at a DMV office, by telephone, or by mail. You must be the current owner of the vehicle to apply for a duplicate title certificate. Your name must appear as the owner on the DMV records unless your name changed, the owner is deceased or the applicant has Power of Attorney. See form MV-902 (Application for Duplicate Title) for instructions. You cannot apply for a NYS title certificate if the vehicle is registered or titled in another state. The DMV will normally send a title certificate by US Postal Service first class mail. If you order a duplicate title certificate on-line, your can order express mail delivery for an additional fee. Looks like the previous owner (the pr*ck who never sent the title) has to do it... I looked at the car and said forget it to myself

I used this place:
http://www.broadwaytitle.com/ to get a title. I bought a truck without title. This company is located in Alabama, and I ended up with a Bill of Sale from Maine. Apparently Maine doesn't do titles, and a BoS from there is good anywhere. Anyway, I had absolutely no trouble titling here in Maryland after that. I was a bit skeptical sending $185 to a company I hadn't heard of, but I didn't have the slightest problem! It was worth every penny to avoid dealing with the state's employees! |

Oops... just noticed that Broadway Title can only do cars older than 1974... sorry! My truck was a '66!
