Good auto machinist in Dallas area

My machinist is a one man shop and I can't get in touch with him. He must be on vacation or something. Finding a machinist that has the right equipment, experience with MB Diesels and trustworthy is tougher than finding a good doctor.

Does anyone know of someone in the Dallas area who fits my criteria?

I need a five cylinder diesel block bored, or new liners put in.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Larry - I would suggest calling around to the "heavy equipment" or dragster engine builders in the area and see if they can offer any suggestions or have any ideas. I would think that in an area the size of Dallas there has got to be someone around there that can deal with the MB cast iron block.

Larry - what is the status of the block? I thought about you yesterday while on my way to eat lunch I went by a place that advertised theirselves as a diesel engine machine shop. I may check them out if I ever have to have machining work done on the 300D.

enagatwork,

Thanks for your concern. The block is still in the trunk of my 300E. I had carefully driven to Dallas thinking that I could go to his shop and unload it. When he turned up missing I carefully drove back home and parked the 300E. I don't want to drive it loaded like that any more than necessary and it gives me an excuse to drive my C Class.

I expect him to be back in his shop Monday. If he's not, I'll take some measures to find someone else. I know of a very good machine shop that could do a good job, but this guy has much experience with these diesels. I will respect his recommendation about whether to bore or line the cylinders. That's why I'm waiting on him. Maybe I need to start a thread to look for opinions about boring or lining.

Thanks for your concern.
