No vacuum 1999 E300
Is there a common failure point in the vacuum system on a 1999 turbo?
I have no door locks, trunk release, and climate control flaps are not working. I have to drive around with very cold feet ![]() Where is the vacuum pump located? |

Pump is located under the rear seat on the passenger side.

Actually the main pump is engine driven, up front...just follow the hose from the brake booster to the front of the engine and you'll see it. Check the "Y" connector right under the brake booster to make sure it hasn't come apart. Since you didn't say you have no power brakes I would assume your vacuum pump is working.

Yes the brakes work normal. I bought a OBD scanner and I hope it points to the problem. I have to put in a new battery so maybe I will see something when the seat is out.

I replaced the battery in the car and now everything works again. I had a problem before with windows and mirrors not working and the fix was to disconnect the battery and hook it back up about a minute later. I hope the new battery keeps things up and running.
