Help! Water on my floorboard

In my 85 300 td I just discovered about 1/4 inch of water in the floorboard after a long rain fall. This is a new car to me and I wasn't expecting this to be an issue. Does anyone have an idea of how this water might have trickled into my car? It's very disconcerting.

Do a search on 'drains'. Could be plugged drains or a leaky windshield gasket.

In the driving-2wd-cars-across-Africa Top Gear special, they solved this problem by using rifles and shooting drain holes in their floorboards.

In your case however, finding out why the car's pre-drilled drain system is plugged up might be a better idea. Gaskets are a good place to check too.

If it's on the driver side, I guarantee it's the drain under the battery. It gets clogged and dumps water in the cabin. Ask me how I know. I was ready to replace the windshield, have a body shop redo the sunroof seals... and what do you know? A little cleaning under there did the trick. Good luck.
