Motor dragging down at a stop

OK,

As I come to a stop the motors drags down to 500 rpm then sort of pops loose and then idles at 750.

It is sort like not pushing in the clutch.

I tried approaching a stop in neutral and it even did it then.

Weird....

This is in the SDL.

Anyone have a thought???

It might be the electronic idle control acting up. Or it could be an issue in the torque converter or something....

I've had that, was a fouled fuel filter. Once down to a low-flow rate at idle the pressure returned to the filter.

Do you get full-power on the highway?

Yeah,,

I first thought a locked up torque converter, yet I coasted to a stop light in neutral and it did it.

As far as highway heck I was just running 80 and she is running like a scalded dog. Ijust put in new filters 2 weeks ago.

Now I did stop a minute ago and shook, tapped, oh heck hit the idle thingy with the red top and seems to have quit.

I am driving up 301 here in Florida headed home checking my mail at Pee stops.

Thanks for the replies will have to Pee again soon.

Sounds like a loose electrical connection on the idle control. Check that the plug on the back of the pump is tight.

That thing with the red top is your OVP relay not the idle control. If your OVP is out your idle will be low along with your tach not working among other things.

I had similar symptoms when I got my SDL but new fuel filters took care of that. Check your small inline filter to see if it is clean. Check closely to make sure there isn't a film over the filter material. If so, you may have an algae problem in your tank and would want to change that filter along with the tank strainer when you clean out your tank.
