Not on mine. She likes 15 minutes at least. Or it takes a mile or so for her to really get power. BUT you need to understand that it's cold and snowy where I am.

Not the same in the summer.

its been on blocks for a while but i recall....
this is where a EGT is nice, itsnt it 200 deg or 400deg to drive and turn it off,

200 sounds right, wait for it to warm up , then cool to at least 400deg before you shut it down
or get a electric fan with delay

As soon as the oil pressure comes up, I drive off. Weve been doing that with the 300CD and 300SD for 24 and 26 years now and it's had no adverse impact on either car.

How cold and snowy? Its been between 0 and 20F for the past 2 months here....and we're near 100" of snow for the season so far....and its snowing currently.

Instead of wine, try a little synthetic motor oil, that'll getter her really going!

My car never fully warms up while idling after initial start up, I start wait 30 seconds and go.

I think I read that we are at 150'' of snow (maybe not in the Denver area, I'm in the foothills) and it's getting warmer here. Snowed last night and should be warm enough today to help melt/evaporate it.

MAybe I'm just impatient. I like a warm car and a car that moves quick from the get go.

Start it and wait for my daughter, 'cause that's the only way to get her out the door for school . Usually anywhere from 2-10 minutes. On non school days, it gets 1-2 minutes idling while I get my seat belt buckled, etc. I try to be nice to it and not get over 2K RPM until it warms up, but its so sluggish, and traffic is so impatient, I can rarely manage it until after I've made it onto the busy road outside my house.

No warming up necessary, I just wait until the oil pressure goes to 3 then I drive. I changed to Synthetic motor oil and now the car starts in less than 1 crank in cold weather.

Mine is happier with a nice long warm up idle.
I have seen this in other threads and wondered the same thing...is a 6xx engine that much different from the engines in most semis?

I'm going to be instantly outvoted on this, because I've started threads about it before.

My personal opinion: no.

The 603 is indirect injection while essentially every semi is a direct injection. Other than that...they are just big rugged diesels....just like the ones in our cars....
