If it influences idle speed, A/C, and tach, it still sounds like the overload protection relay is the culprit (or the socket/pins). I apologize if you've covered that.

Do you live anywhere near SW Michigan that you can drive over here and swap parts until you find the problem?

I was thinking that too, but I have another ovp and that does exactly the same thing... as in, the car reacts to both ovp's the same. but yeah, it may still be that. the car stalls when you take the ovp out though, so it definitely does something.
I don't know if it influences ac. haven't been able to try yet. I did manage to vacuum and fill up and the clutch engaged at some point. so I assume it works.
