w123 manual sunroof problem

handle twists good to unlock/release/whatever it does, and it slides back and forth well. but when i shut it and go to lock/push it up/seal it i have to exert tremendous torque on the handle before it eventually pops loudly and turns a complete rotation. I have read somewhere here that you have to pull down on the handle to actuate the movement but mine doesnt seem to want to pull down ?? what needs lube, ive looked around up there but dont see clearly whats going on when i turn the handle. I need to have my sun-roof open and the problem is getting worse over time, its so bad now that i dont even want to open it.
