#@%! Front License Plate Fell Off Today!

So I heard an aluminum "KATHUNK" on the highway today and thought I had run over a can... sure enough, got home, front license plate is gone... I guess my rigged mounting system didn't work. How are the front plates attached to your 300D's? I had 2, 1/2 inch holes in the rubber moulding on the bumper that had no screw holes, is there supposed to be mounting hardware in those holes?

What a pain in the arse...

Yes, of course there are, but taking a 1/2 day off to go to the DMV when you're an hourly contractor is an expensive venture.

In Michigan you don't need a front plate. Nor emissions testing....vehicle inspections.....none of that. I pay $37 to register my car here. And since there's almost no cops on the freeways, you can speed most of the time.

I don't understand why so many people are moving away!

I have a new euro plate I am going to mount onto my car soon, and I am going to make darn sure that its well-attached.

Yeah its been never-ending this year. Way more snow and much colder temps than last year. Its not been much over 35 degrees in ages. (months) Its like 23 out right now. I've taken to getting my anger out at winter by hacking apart the massive ice-formation at the base of our driveway with a shovel for about an hour a day. It helps. And its good excercise.

I'm hoping that in a couple more weeks we'll finally be on our way to spring.

Yes, there is no reason to ask for a ticket, a pick'n'pull, may provide what you need.

I got rid of that low hanging plate fixture. It was always getting bent for some reason. Just hold your plate into the cutout of the rubber bumper, mark for drilling and drill away. I did mine with a mechanical egg beater drills, pretty easy to drill through. The hard part is getting your hand into the back of the bumper to attach the nuts.

Don't complain about missing work when you could have prevented it.
We all will cut a corner from time to time. Sometimes we just get away with it better than others.

Here in Nevada the law is simply "You must have a front license plate unless you are driving an older vehicle not equipped to mount a front license plate."

So I don't use a front license plate because my vehicle is "older" (I love how they don't specify how old is "old") and the mounting bracket is broken (thus, my vehicle at the moment is not equipped to mount a front license plate.

I've got the broken bracket and the front plate in the trunk just in case I need to be "just on my way" to get it fixed...

So far no problems with the law, and it looks a heck of a lot better with no plate.
