w123 climate control questions--

Hi All,

I just took apart my climate control unit, and found this burnt trace.

Is this a result of the aux water pump drawing too much current?

In your experience with rebuilders of this unit, would this void the unit as a core?

Have any of you tried benz-store.com? they offer a rebuilt unit for 135.00 with core.

If any of you have had any experiences in this area, I'd really appreciate hearing from you-

Thanks!

All I can say is, that's a pretty good price on a rebuilt unit.

Yeah, sometimes things are too good to be true, just wanted to see if anyone used them before.

BTW I got to work on it over the weekend. The aux coolant pump was seized, and after reinstalling the bad module with the burned trace, my blower worked once again, even in all 3 fan settings. Just tweaking the unit on reinstalling must have reset some corroded contacts.--

Don't be surprised if you can't trade the burnt unit as a core.

why not try to repair it yourself first. if you are handy with an iron, that looks like a pretty easy clean up there, on first glance. just check the ic's arend it, and in that path to see if any died. if so replace them.
maybe 3 bucks total. worth a shot.
