Question Funky GP Light

I hope someone can help me with this.
I have done a search and found there are error codes associated with the GP light but haven't found anything that resembles my problem.
I have a 95 E300D and the other day the GP light didn't light when the key was turned. The engine started just fine and ran smooth after about 5 seconds. About a minute after the engine started, the GP light came on and stayed on for about another minute. I suspect it started when the afterglow timer went off and ran for the same time period.
I checked the GP at the connector (Thanks Diesel Giant!!) and found all of them except #6 to show a reading of .6 Ohm to battery ground, #6 showed open.
The dome light dims sometimes when I turn the key, but the GP light result is the same.
I don't think I am doing any damage to the motor by doing this am I?
Could it be the relay for the GP or a timer?
I had planned on changing the glow plugs soon, I just don't want to change them and still have this problem if it is a relay or something else.
Any suggestions, advice, or especially pictures or diagrams will be appreciated.
Thanks

If you followed DG's tutorial you answered your own question and know #6 is bad and that your relay is good.

You also said it starts rough for 5 secs then evens out. Thats wear and tear.

I'd say replace the bad one sooner rather tahn later but that you could live with it for a few weeks if absolutely necessary.

Thanks Terry, I couldn't see the forest for the trees. I just didn't think having a bad plug would cause the light to act that way.
Thanks again.
PS
Hope you make it to Kenai.

hey

I'm in the same boat as you. 95 e300d. Bad #6. I'm going in in a couple of weeks. Best of luck.
