diesel is way expensive!! $4.00
 

In the Chicago land area, diesel is over $4.00 a Gallon:eek: with regular gas sitting at 3.50. THis is ridiculous. Thank god i get good gas milage out of the ol' girl or i might have never driven her. Can you believe that though? over $4.00???
never in my life would i think of petrol being that much!

Next year at this time you can just re-use this post but change the numbers to about $5 or $6 :D ;)

I'm in the finance industry, and I just heard that demand on diesel is higher than ever, mainly because of demand in Asia. So, it was just a matter of time before the cheap stuff we buy from China reaches around and bites us on the rear.

ain't it the truth! and now, since we have such little money in our collective pockets from filling up, we have to buy more "cheap chinese stuff" feeding the cycle.

I'm afraid to see what it is by the time I fill up again. I just heard that crude oil was over $107 a barrel.

Yeah, here in San Francisco, I was paying $4.14 yesterday.

Problem is, around here biodiesel costs even MORE than normal diesel! :eek:

Youch!!! How much more? If there were a bigger demand for Biodiesel than Dino, then this would change and the market would be more stable for a homegrown fuel!:D

Right now Biodiesel here in the valley is about .20 less than dino!

The BD guys need the price of petro diesel to get high enough that selling BD is worthwhile. Once the price of petro diesel reaches some "magic number" (maybe $5), we will start to see more commercial BD.

that wont last- think of how much petroleum is used to grow the soybeans and corn. from the nitrogen fertilizer to fueling the combines and tractors,trucks, barges', and processing plants, its all petroleum.

of course so is all that cheep chinese plastic crap being shoved down our throats at the local big box............

China using a lot of diesel should not affect our diesel supply, we refine it here ourselves. The problem lies with the refineries and oil companies choosing to not produce enough diesel to keep supply limited. If they would refine more of the crude coming into the US into diesel....prices would go down slightly.

I think that the price of oil being at $109.58 has something to do with it, along with the growing demand in the US from all these cummins and duramax guys running around getting 15mpg, and the ULSD that is more difficult to refine. Its just that simple. China has nothing to do with our diesel, except that it cost more becuase the price of crude is higher. We get oil, we make diesel. We dont "import" our diesel across the ocean. Thats just retarded :P
