Nah its killing any hopes of getting diesel cars for awhile. My broker is finaly trading in her SDL after almost 21 years of ownership. She was thinking about an E320CDI, but kind of wants a 4matic wagon, and as she said your not saving much anymore because diesel is so much more than gas. So the SDL will probably be replaced by an E350 4matic wagon.

Depending on the mpg's it still saves to drive a diesel....
I figured a 130 mile trip in the Rav4 would cost us about $24 at current gas prices and the things atrocious mileage....the same trip in my car at the same speed, nets a cost of about $19.50....and its much more comfortable/safer. Thats even with diesel costing 70-80 cents more per gallon!

I dont even consider gasoline cars. If diesel is 4.15 a gallon, then Im paying that. There is no *****ing becuase there is nothing better than driving a 1980's mercedes benz diesel. These are the cars I know, the cars that have already saved my life once, and the cars I enjoy. If i have to pay 50 cents more to do that then I will

Mods, make a goddamn diesel price sticky!
Turbobenz, if you think nothing is better than driving a 1980's Mercedes, you haven't driven enough cars!

I've got my misgivings about mine from time to time.... wondering which button is waiting to start a dash fire when I press it, fighting with the climate control or the cruise control or this or that or the other.... but I really do still enjoy the thing. I wish I trusted it just a little more.... but I too would rather be driving it with all its faults than most of everything else that's out there on the road. Definitely would rather OWN it than anything else out there.

Get out a bit, go test drive an Audi RS4, yeah that will fix ya. Listen to that sweet, sweet V8 bark at 8k rpm.

Diesel prices should be DROPPING this time of year
The winter is basically over, at least here in Atlanta. Diesel prices should be dropping any day now. What is up with this $3.99/gallon crap??? I just paid $25 for 1/2 tank of fuel.

Truckers getting more efficient, that's all...
Quote:
The people doing long hauls typically work with frieght companies to find loads for their trips back. Also, it would seem like the big truckers would start up a co-op of some kind, to make their own biodiesel, and have the stuff in key areas of the country where there's a lot of truck traffic. They could probably produce it AND make money at $2.50/gallon. jeff |
