Glow plug relay

85 300DT

Lite goes out about every 3 weeks. Works for a week then out again.
Saw posts about cleaning contacts. Does anyone have pics? Cleaned contacts where 80a fuse connects.

Maybe go to the bone yard, get another, then play with the original.

Any help would be appreciated THX, Tom

I think the 85 GP relay has two sensors, one in the first gp wire and one in a temp sensor in the water neck or the head.... not sure, but you could have a temp sensor issue.

Hey Trogmaster, I have a 87 300d and must have read the same forum as you. I had 1 red wire and 2 plugs to remove off the top of my relay. There were 2 nuts holding the relay box to the fenderwell. After I got it in my hands there were 4 philips head screws holding the base to the top of the relay. Pulled it apart and there were 2 sets of points. took a fingernail file them put it back togather and we are back in business.
Maybe this will help you. If not try www.dieselgiant.com they helped me check my glow plugs.
This is the second project I have had with the 300d, The first was rewiring where the tweekers before cut all the wires where the stereo went
