removing W123 center console
my question is, Do you have to remove the center console to replace the carpets forward of it?
(ya know the carpets by your right or let feet, depending on which side you are sitting on) |

Carpets are held by one phillips screw down low/forward.
Top of carpet is clipped into the console edge with some "grippers". Need to slip a thin wedge into place to release. Similar to release a locked "tie-wire". You can pull the ashtray and console/shifter piece to see the clips. Floor carpets need to come out, and likely the underdash covers for clearance.... Jim

Just like Jim said. You can use a metal putty knife and push it upward to pop the clips. But installing them, you can just leave them floating. Or otherwise you have to remove the center console.
So your finally installing all the stuff I sent you . Is that because I some bash that is happening?

It's no big deal to remove the center console. I'd do it and reattach the carpet.
