Question for the Greasers
I don't make a lot of dough, and at an average of $4.20 a gallon, I'm starting to not be able to afford to drive my car. And if that $9/gallon comes true, we're all looking at about $200 to fill up our tanks. For me, the only way I will continue to be able to drive my car is to switch to homemade bio or convert to wvo. I'm leaning toward wvo, because I don't like the idea of, or really have the space to brew biodiesel.
So, my question is for the two-tankers. I'm trying to figure out if converting to wvo is even worth it for my commute. At outside temperatures of 40, 60, and 80 degrees, how long does it take until you can flip the switch to veg oil, and how long is your purge cycle? Those are the average winter, spring/fall, and summer temps here in Philly, and I assume warm up times vary based on outside temp. My commute is about 40 minutes. Obviously, converting wouldn't be worth it if I'm purging 5 minutes after I switch to veg oil.
Sorry if the answer is posted elsewhere. There's so much stuff in this forum, it's getting pretty hard to find an answer to a specific question.
Thanks!
