Installed Bilstein's - now thump
Greetings,
I installed Bilstein rear shocks and front struts on my 1984 190d last weekend. I have noticed that for the back, and front, when I hit a sharp bump that something is hitting something - its not metal & it is kind of a soft hit. Also, when I was tightening the front struts on top you have to use an allen wrench to keep the rod from turning. I got the nut tight before it ever tightened to the strut supports. Just wondering what I might have not done correctly. Any help sure will be appreciated. Thanks. Hugh Sr.

make sure there is rubber on either side of the body steel.not both on one side, etc.
tighten pretty darn tite- that is my official tq spec.

Would that be "pretty darn tight" in inch pounds or foot pounds

Check your rear sway bar link. They wear out.
