300SD transmission part needed.

I need a part of my '80 300SD transmission. Its called a speedometer cable casing.

The casing fits into the tail piece of the auto transmission. The speedo cable plugs into the casing and there is a lock bold that goes thru it to secure the cable.

Anybody have an extra one?

Carson,

Sorry, no image.

The speedo cable casing is is located on the driver side of car in the tail piece of the transmission. The speedo cable plugs into the casing and is locked in by a bolt.

'80 300SD 116 and older had a speedo cable. Electrical speedo started in the '81 126 300SD and 300SDL.

Will trade for two straight rod assemblies out of a rod bender.

Or I could let you have mine out of my research center for about $50.00 plus shipping unless you want to come and take that big nut off and I will drop it down to $35.00.

I have a friend that might be buying a 79 300D for the motor. This is not a done deal but if he does how quick do you need this cable case?

Also, I have a question. Do you know if a 79 300D motor is interchangeable with an 84 300SD? Both are 5 cylinders. Or do you know of some resource that could tell me?

Not sure if it is compatible in all means that a turbo motor from a w123 is, but as far as I know you have to change the motor mount arms, oil filter housing, oil cooler lines (if it has one)and you'd have to swap the tail housings of the tranny to accept an electrical speedometer. But im not sure if the oil filter housings are compatible since one is for a turbocharged motor and the other is NA
