weird vibes in w126
My 82 w126 300sd seems to have developed a bad driveline vibration....but weird.
If I am driving at 65mph, on a flat surface, it seems fine. Head down a hill, and it starts vibrating, and feels like it's from the rear. Slow down a little and it appears to get worse while deccelearting..... Flex disks? I'd pop under and take a look, but it's been snowing here since Thursday night....they say it should stop in the next day or so. ![]()

Sounds like it's the flex disks or center bearing.
Axle half shafts can also make a noise/vibration. Jim

What exactly would I be looking for with the axle shafts?
Flex disks? - I think I know what to look for with them, but I imagine they're cheap enough to replace and not too time consuming.

I would check the center bearing first, crawl up under the car, inspect visually, try to rotate the drive shaft, jiggle, feel for any play. May be difficult to do so, as the SD has a plate bolted below the drive shaft. While you're there, look at the flex disc's, both of 'em, they will be obvious.
