Exclamation 300SDL Instrument Cluster help

Got the dash in and out, except for the instrument cluster which is acting up. I'm hoping that my guages aren't sending my engine mixed signals and killing it. I hooked all connectors back in correctly numbered except for the left (right behind) circle reostat connector. The moon shaped fitting has broken off the connector (should I repair?), and the numbers on the connector don't line up with anything on the cluster port.

The fuel guage works now instead of the oil except for when I turn on the headlights and the fuel guage goes to maximum and reserve light comes on and the oil goes to maximum. The engine temp. does not work at all.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank YOU!

I've gotten the clocking of that round connector wrong which blew the oil pressure gauge. It's a bad design - the half moon should engage before the pins.

Arrow

Took apart the cluster to look closer. Does the center of the connector have a pin that engages in the cluster? If so, this could be the problem.
Also, turning the headlights on makes the oil, and fuel guage max out. What gives????

As Sixto said, your large round connector is not indexed correctly. Mine had a broken half moon index key, and allowed the connector to be installed in any position.

I've had one clocked incorrectly, and ended up frying the electrics on the 3 gage unit.

Check you wiring diagram, it will show you the color and number, and you can verify psoition.

Arrow Fried.......

anyone have a diagram for a 300sdl, or w126? Looks as if I've fried my left 3 gauge unit. So off to the junkyard I go to grab a new cluster and maybe the connector cap with the moon shaped thing. Any diagrams for a w126 cluster would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Arrow grounding out...

theres a ground wire that has three little wires, possibly for the fuel, oil, and engine temp? Where should I ground on the cluster, the car somewhere? Still not sure how to line up the cirle pin connector though. Any diagrams, schematics, or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
