Hi,

I am looing for some experienced input regarding the removal of an automatic transmission and converting to a 4 or 5 speed manual. I am working on a 1981 300D non turbo. Has anyone done such a retrofit?

The 5 speed manual has almost received Holy Grail status. Very unlikely to ever run across one. If you do, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...........
Look for a 4sp from a 240D.
