questions with pictures.

So for the first picture. I think those are the injectors right? Located on the vavle cover? Well the lines that run to each one are intact until the last one. There appears no line running from the very last injector. What's up with that??? The next photo is just showing the fuel system for any comments...
The last picture is showing a hose that doesn't connect to anything. It's just open. Is that normal? Maybe just part of the emissions? Thanks for looking.

Right, it looks like you've taken a picture of the #5 injector. Each injector has two return line nipples, and on the last inject, one of them is connected to the other injectors (like in a series) and the other return nipple should be plugged. Looks normal to me - if you think about it, if there were a return line coming from the other fitting on the last injector... what would it connect to anyway?

There is a piece of line with a plug on the last injector, as it should be.

That piece is very wet, but the line running from that injector is fairly wet as well. It's time to replace them.

All normal. The fuel return lines go from one injector to the next but the last injector has no other place to send the return fuel to, so there's a stop instead of another line. In the second pic I see oil on the ALDA on the lower right, maybe the last oil change got sloppy. Nothing unusual except maybe for a slight oil or fuel leak at the valve cover gasket. Finally in the last pic that's just the fuel hose that allows the fuel filler recess to dump excess fuel to the ground in case of an overfill. If that happens the fuel pours over the fuel filler neck and into the drain, that ends up going out that tube.

Hope that helps

The hose in the last picture is a drain from the fuel filler area. It should look just like that.

Thanks! The oil on the ALDA is my bad. Next time I change the filter I'll disconnect the vacuum lines to have smoother access to the filter. The lines connecting all the injectors seem a bit leaky to me. What do I need to but to replace them? Or rather, what's the name of the parts? Thanks again!

Oh and the injectors look pretty damn rusty. Should I clean them or replace them or do nothing because they are fine like that?

As long as the engine runs and does not "nail" they are fine like that.

No need to remove rusted injectos as long as they are working OK. Do not get paint on the rubber boots on the Axel but if they were my axles I would paint the "Cans" that are on the Axle befor they rust through.
If you replace the injector return hoses/lines if some one has not already done it you can make your own plug for the last injector by cutting a short piece of hose and inserting a slightly larger fine thread screw with silicone sealant on the threads. Shove it into one end of the hose and the other onto the injector nipple.
Also If you replace the injector retun hoses/lines with regular vacuum hose they will start leaking again in about 30 days or less. VW dealers have the injector return hose (for the older VW Rabbits) and one member uses 3/16 weed wacker fuel line and said it also holds up over time.
Of course there are sources of the return line on the internet.

How about the lines at the bottom here...
http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedesshop/sophio/quote.jsp?clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&cookieid=2CD0XVQQW2CR0XIGBB&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&partner=mercedesshop&year=1984&product=D1030-21332&application=000005201
And how do I know if my injectors are indeed working properly? And what is the "nailing" of the engine that you are talking about?

I got mine from the dealership, a bit more expensive. Mine are the yellowish ones with orange stripes. The one you posted should work without any problems.

the only way to really now whether the injectors are running in perfect manner is to take them out and have the spray pattern tested as well as having them pop tested. you can have that done at most injector shops, costs about $25 each. The nailing will sound like a hammer on metal sound if you hear that run some diesel purge through the engine and see how much that helps.

dabb alitle oil on them if you dont like the rust look, its acast piece so the oil will help its looks ,usually these diesels get oil everywhere so the injectors get a nice dose of it when your valve cover leaks. youve got the desired none leaking valve cover gasket. If its not nailing just do a diesel purge once a year ,runs fine ,dont fix it I say.

That last injector with the plug in the hose. I just reuse the plug. I slit the hose down one side, pop out the plug, and insert it into another short piece of hose.

when ever Iam at PNP, I always pull them off for spares.

Your CV/axle boot near the outer can has a crack in it. You might be thinking of getting new boots in the near future.
