Question How do you do this?

I bought a 79' Mercedes 300D recently and need to change the power steering belt but I don't know how to do it? Does anyone have experience doing this or know where I can find some information on it? Anything helps, thanks!

It's been a while

But I think there are two bolts. One off to the side of the pump on a slot sort of bracket. and one on top of the bracket. loosen the on on the slot type bracket then turn loosen the one on top and that loosens the belt. Sorry this is sort of vague but like I say, it's been a while. There may also be another bolt involved. But it is the same sort of thing. loosen the bolts and turn the top one and the pump will slide downward and loosen the belt.

I believe there are four 13mm bolts. You need an assortment of socket extensions and 13mm wrenches, gear wrenches are handy for this job.

After you loosen the mounting bolts, there is an "adjusting" bolt on the top, drivers side portion of the pump, somewhat under the hoses. Use this to loosen or tighten the pump. (based upon our 1984 300d)

That's correct. Often you have to get the mounting bolts quite loose, then back off the adjustment bolt several turns (so that the head is no longer against the bracket) then shake and push on the pump to get it to rotate enough to get the belt off.
