transmission help
Is there something I'm missing here?
I removed a transmission from a 617.950 and am attempting to mate it to a 617.952. It just doesn't seem to want to fit snug up against the engine. Is there a trick to this? I didn't want to force it thinking I'm might screw up something, but maybe it just takes more force than I thought it should (never having done this before). Maybe someone with more experience that I can help me out on this or has some advise? thanks.

I'm thinking the torque converter is not fully pushed into the trans. The converter should be in about 2 inches from the face of the trans bell housing. Try rotating the torque converter while pressing in with firm pressure. There are notches on the converter that engage the front pump within the trans. Once trans is bolted up, you then pull the converter forward to bolt it to the flex plate.

thanks for the response
it sounds like that may be my problem, i'll try it maybe tomorrow and see if that works. i just don't want to screw up the transmission or anything else for that matter. also, i have no one with any experience at all to ask.
