Fybrid kit and your opinion please

I'm finally going to buy a kit for my 300SD and wanted to get a 21 gallon tank. Has anyone gotten the kit without the tank included. They wont sell it without, well they do but for the same price. What about guys like me who want to save $$$ and weld it themselves. I guess this is a 'business' move on their part because anyone can get the in tank heater exchange and modify to fit. Can someone tell me as to why not to go with this co.

Right now temps here are 70-80 and 50 in the mornings.
I'm in lompoc, california. 1 hour north of Santa Barbara.

thanks
