OM616 replacement muffler

I am a volunteer with a cross-country ski association. I am responsible for maintenance on a pisten-bully snow cat which uses an MB OM616 engine.

Now I am looking for replacement muffler. It seems not to use the same system as MB cars, eg, the 240 or 190 series. Instead it has a single muffler that vents vertically up the back of the cab. It has an Eberspacher muffler, badly cracked, with the following stampings:

16 07 382 02 000 VIII87
8 341018 000

It measures 14"/360mm long

Oval shape
8"/200mm wide
5"/130mm thick

It bolts to a bracket on the machine, so i would prefer to find a reasonably close match.


Any suggestions about back-pressure ratings or helpful manufacturers might be helpful in locating a compatible part.

Any generic muffler that fits should work well. The less backpressure the more efficiently it will run.

What it really comes down to is how loud you can stand it to be.
