That mount also looks a lot like the one from an 80 300td auto...

Almost but not quite. The bolt hole locations are different on yours, mine are positioned more forward.

I just got my 82300D back from the shop. they installed the 4Speed for me (minus the shifter and drive shaft install...) they used the 240 crossmember and modified it to fit in the 300... I will jack it up and take pics if I like it.

The cross member is from a 240D auto and the Meyle mount here: http://www.***************/search/product.aspx?sid=j1tb4uu3sgabfuvqxxaplprh&partnumber=123%20240%2025%2018

I thought I had an auto x-member lined up, but it ended up being for the manual. I can't wait to try this...

LMK how things go with that, I need a new one on mine as well however iirc it was all one piece (dampener and rubber).

I pulled the damper from an SD, it helped but I still have a high frequency buzz/vibe from 1600 to 1800 rpm in 3rd and 4th. After that it is silky smooth. I ordered a new trans mount to see if it will help. I also notice it is worse in a right turn so I think the trans is rubbing somewhere. Now that its got some miles on it I will drop it for the new mount and look for rub spots. My top shift arm was one major culprit, when I bent it down it got rid of 50% of the magnitude of the buzz

I could use the smaller damper from the 280E driveshaft since its in perfect condition, but I don't know if the mass is tuned to the driveshaft length or just the engine frequency.

This is the reply I got from MB classic center:

Quote:
There was a part like this used on a few other models, but somewhere a long time ago a bulletin came out saying to discard it and just use the flex coupling. There is no replacement part for this item.
I think I'll just use the 300D damper as-is and replace it with the 280E damper if/when it fails.

I finally found an auto cross-member. I am using the 300D auto mount as well. Unfortunately, this did not cure the buzzies for me.

I have a custom shaft that is 1/2" too long. By that I mean it is a bear to get in, but does not bind once installed. No, I am not sure its not the muffler, but I never had any buzzing before the tranny swap.
