I would like to thank all of you for your help yesterday. I joined the forum, presented my problem, and thanks to all of you I resolved the problem and was rolling by dark. I also got some great direction into the mercedes library.
First, I straight wired the electrical connection that I had broken on the temperature control sensor to its perspective home and then I checked my new glow plugs to make sure that they were all tight. That is when I discovered that I did indeed have a loose connection on the 2 GP's that are in the center. I turned the key and the glow plug light came on and my car started up immediately. None of the metal loop's on the end of the old glow plugs were broken but my car starts easier, glow plug light goes off faster and my car seems to idle much better. Could there be a relationship between better idle and replacement of GP's. P.S. I think it would have been much easier to remove the fuel lines.
Also, the link that led me to the mercedes library revealed to me that the GP light would not come on if there was a loose connection or if the battery was not fully charged.
I never figured out if the temperature control sensor being disconnected affected the start or not. however, I ordered a replacement temp.control sensor from O'reilly Auto Parts for $28 and they orderedi it yesterday and they had it here this morning.
Thanks again.......
