Vogtland Springs in my '79 300CD
I finally got around to the Vogtland spring installation and the rear springs are too short with 19mm or 3 nub rubber, thickest available? There is 2.5 degrees negative camber according to my alignment tech. Disappointed with the rear springs, delighted with the front springs. I will be reinstalling the OEM rear springs to avoid severe inside edge wear on the rear tires. I believe the rear springs should have been a little longer and wonder if anyone else has had this problem and solved it? Might have my Vogtland group buy lowering springs for sale sometime in the future.

i opted to leave my stockers in the rear. my car is angled up just enough to make the rear tires and the front tires look the same in the front and rear wheel opening. I like the look, kinda old school hot rod........

2 nubs front or rear? I am planning to re-use my 3 nub rear and 2 nub fronts, but there is still time to switch that. Is 3 nub the tallest rear pad? I am concerned about what it will look like in a few years when the springs settle. Heck, my rear looks like it is lowered now due to the sagging stock springs, and that's with 3 nub pads already! I thought there was talk about having the rear springs re-made slightly taller.

2 rear originally, practically unusable. I would get 3 rear and 1 front and shave the front. I just cant figure out how.

I removed my old springs and found that they were spaced with 3 nub rubber in both the front and rear. The alignment computer showed the front of the car in spec. with the Vogtlands and 3 nub spacer. Rear not in spec. out 2.5 degrees neg. I like the ride since I renewed all the isolation rubber bushings and new HD Bilstiens. I now know the rear springs are too short for my car even with the largest spacers available. I had thought about putting in the eccentric bushings when I had the trailing arms out but too late now since I am not taking it all apart again. My thoughts were some adjustability possible for the camber using the eccentric bushings. I will probably run the springs until the fall and replace this winter with the stock springs. I'm using my 14 inch tires during this experimental phase of suspension tinkering. Eventually plan to use a larger diameter rim with excellent tires. I really appreciate this forum which has allowed me to do so much work myself saving thousands of dollars.

There are three 1 nub front pads left in the US, and I just ordered two of them.
