Jathropa is quite big in India, its also actively being subsidised by local state governments and in some states you can find it being sold for 50 cents a gallon although in limited number of pumps. Recently MB India invested heavily into Jathropa plantations and even did a highly successful test run with a C220 that was driven all the way down from south of India to the Himalayas. The C220 was unmodified and ran on jathropa fuel alone.

This was just in praise of another fossil fuel burning internal combustion engine. There was another arm of the industry that ensured petroleum fuel use in the engine. The whole thing was probably a tax write-off.

They just can't accept that its just a good video about the engine and not the fuel. Its made by Big Oil so it MUST be a propaganda film.

Actually, the first fuel he tried was coal dust, but that didn't work too well.

And it's not that GREAT of a film in any case. It's a pretty simple educational film like we used to watch in 5th grade when the teacher was feeling lazy.

It did have a bit of that old substitute teacher kill-some-time movie feeling but I really enjoyed seeing and hearing a reproduction of the original engine actually running. I wonder if a copy of that original "Diesel" German movie is available anywhere?
