Its an 83 240D, and according to reports the gauge and engine noise improved after adding oil and then got worse again after driving, I'm not sure how far prob. 25-30 miles. I've read several posts concerning blockages in the oil pickup inside the filter housing, and possibly a bad pressure relief valve and/or oil pump.

Its at an indy mechanic who seems to know his old mercedes but I want to be able to advise him where to look in case its an intermittent prob. My knees are sore from all the praying I've been doing lately that the engine isn't toast.
